Oki, as somebody had already realise, this week`s 5 stripes was the stripe number 50 divided. I decided to do so cause sometimes, the strip is very long, and the hosting of smackjeeves wont allow me to upload it with good quality. At the beginning i simply reduced the quality till it fitted the hosting, but i think that is just awful.
Due to that, from now on, when i have a long strip, i will just divide it, and upload it on wednesday and thursday. I will leave a message every wednesday that the strip will continue the next day.
I think you`d like 2 or 3 good quality actualizations every week rather than just a poor one. ;)
However, if Johnson only lost one of his two hearts, he would survive it. And it seems like he should, because the second heart is usually not near the first heart. But if the story says that he will die, we can just imagine that his second heart is melted too.
By the Emperor...
Even if Johnson join those Xeno's...No one can deny that in this day, one of Mankind's finest gave up his life so that other would live. He did not fought to win, but for his compagnion survival. Let it be remebered as the end came close that he didn't forget he was a Astartes. It is my hope, as shameful as it is, that his soul rejoin his primarch before judgement await.
About duty in the grim darkness of the far future
Sorry, to contradict your romantic sentiment, though I would love if that worked that way. Johnson left his chapter, and joined the enemy in search for personal gains, his good conscience. This day, a great man sacrificed himself to protect someone he barely knew. The act is heroic, but no one recognizes that except us. And he forgot the Astartes, for his last words and last acts and last thoughts weren't for and to the Emperor of Mankind, but for his own warrior spirit. He is a traitor, one of the new Fallen. And this is why I like the character idea. Because he is romantic by that, not by following tenets, which bring suffering to all, even to itself. If Johnson die, then do not pray for his soul, to return to Lionel, or the spiritleech Emperor! Pray, that his soul would wander the Immaterium for an eternity, on a dimension of it, where the Ruinous Powers cannot touch him, so he can rest at ease. Or pray for him, so that he may become an angel of protection, as he was in his life. So that he may continue his great work as a lesser power in the face of the shadow, which grow in the universe at a constant, frightening pace.
Ughn... I became a little poetic there. Not even he could survive such a devastating blow, but this is a comic, and no good writer kill characters out of whim. Something is going to happen to save him, or more liklely, his death would bring something worthy to the story.
Mmmh...My lack of knowledge of the Astartes, more precisely their new fallen, disrupted my prayer. Nekropancser, I tip my helm to you for your post. I admit that I am wrong in my romantic point of view. But I still stand that he died, If he die, A heroes death. He did not fight to win, but for his belief. Poke me in the eye if I'm wrong again.
To be honest, I don't think he could possibly survive.
He lost what, a good cubic half-metre of his body, in his chest.
His lungs are dead, so is his primary heart, so is half his stomach.
I think he's pretty much boned unless he gets immediate and sophisticated medical attention, the likes of which these Dark Eldar wouldn't bother with, and the Tau don't have (since they don't have that many Humans on their side, they most likely don't have a great understanding of Human medicine).
Look Even a Marine has issues with a large section of spinal column as well as lungs, stomach, liver, Possibly heart missing. If he were still hanging in there in the regular universe, they could encase him in a Dreadnought,,,,if he were with his chapter.
Then again, recognize that this is the universe as the author sees it, and who knows? he may decide to make it so that he can regenerate given enough time to grow it all back and be one pissed of Mahreen of Spehs! I mean one of my friends has decreed that there is a female chapter in his universe where we play DH/RT/DW combined. It is all up to the site master what will happen!
Well Dreadnought shells are usually reserved for heroes of the chapter, wise and respected old chaps.
This guy killed another Marine, I don't think they'd give him one :P
And yeah, ultimately everyone has poetic lisence, female Marines aren't canon, but there are ways to excuse them (extensive bionic and hormonal treatment, and even then they aren't quite up to par), if you don't just use them out of hand.
Hm... By whim, all can create a chapter of female space marines, or include female members into existing ones. But if we take the rules, given by GW, they state, that the gene seed, which creates the superhuman effect, which nears the inborn capabilities of their primarchs, the seed only grow into fruition in male adolsescent systems.
Free of mutation and corruption. The implants, drawn and grown from the gene seeds wouldn't work or attach to female systems, since all of the primarchs were male. BUT! During the Rogue trader era, Ed 1 and 2, all sexes were able to use power armours and powered armours. Though a part of a gene seed is necessary, the Black Carapace, to control such artifacts. Still, the Sisters of Battle use power armours, and it is a bestowed privilige to them, to be allowed to wear them. Still, GW have no stand in this last matter, as to how do they wear that? Personally, I think, they mass produce this 'simple' organ, the Black Carapace, to supply these women, without the use of gene seeds. So... if you want to use female space marines, first... you are a nerd, who need the loving care of a girl, and a hot, soft woman to warm your bed during the nights, second, you should consider them outcasts, since the Imperium of man is a sexist place, and such a thing, as a primarchless space marine chapter full of powerful females is heresy by its mere existence. Still... you can simply state, that they are cyborgized, and maintained by Adeptus Mechanicus magoses, they are not space marines, but an elite heavy and rapid response company of religious Imperial Guardswomen. Another sisterhood or such thing. But then... there is an unofficial codex of pure SoB armies, which describe the tactics of spaceborn SoB, using drop pods, heavy weapons, machines and such.
All that said. Now the only thing left for me is to bring some more disdain upon my head, by telling you, that I am about to collect and scratchbuild a form of a heretical imperial army, giving home to mixed sexed marines. Though they are few, since females mostly lack the aggression and love of physical conflict, which is crucial in the process of choosing initiates for any chapter. (That army is not a fallen chapter, but a whole new thing. Imperial Guardsman in heavy armours, light vehicles with mostly energy weapons, and psyker, cyborgized men and women trained to be seargeants of the troops.)
in fact, during the rogue trader, the power armor was normal armor, and the space marines, were regular men and women. Te black carapace existance was developed after that, in the 3th edition, i think, as the main concept of "genetically enhanced superhuman" was developed in the 2nd one.
And Chris... I won't poke you in the eye... We both share the vision, that he is a hero. And GW did not gave out the Codex Astartes, so I can only guess, what it contains. Lastly: the Fallen are the counterparts of the Dark Angels, those, who remained during the Horus Heresy at their homeworld, to protect it, but whose leader, made them to revolt against the 'better'. When the first part of the Dark Angel Legion returned, they had to retake their homeworld, and made the traitors flee to the Immaterium. These space marines are the Fallen. All Dark Angel, who betray the chapter are considered fallen, their name go into the database of the chapter, and are to be hunted down, captured, make them repent for their sins, then execute them. Or simply purge their souls by intensive torture and THEN execute them. Johnson were lucky to find the Tau Empire. The Dark Angels are the most intolerant chapter of the Imperium of Man. Sometimes they turn against fellow Space Marines, if they do something, which they consider heretical, like allying xeno against a greater foe.
Hm... True_Darius... You may be right. I read some cropped White Dwarf magazine articles or something like that, and those must have been made after first ed... Thanks for the correction. But this still doesn't make it clear, how do the SoB control their armor. For the Black Carapace thing exists, and it is a rule. Yet, they are not marines, they are simple nuns.
The black carapace does not allow to control the armor, it just improve their functions, as being able to feel presion and heat trought the gauntlets as if there were your own fingers. Its like having a second layer of skin, rather than a bulky solid armor.
The SoB and inquisitors and other people with PA but without the BC can still use it but less effectively. (not contempled in terms of gaming)
Um...yeah, one he would be considered a traitor to the space marines, two he is deffinetly a hero to his fellow xeno soldiers and three, some space marines were ripped in half and where still in the fight against the nids.....so i think jhonson could potentially survive this.....if he has the willpower. But like i said he needs the willpower to llive like that one space marine did.
I can think of TWO possibilites happening here...
One, if Johnson really is dead. Then an Astartes, though fallen from the Emperor's Grace, just died taking a shot from a Heavy Lance. No fitting death could be more appropriate for an Emperor's Finest than to be taken out by an Anti-Tank weapon...
The Second is very very very simple, and substantially easier than the first... If Johnson DIDN'T DIE, then the Dark Eldar are about to have a VERY VERY VERY BAD DAY.
Just a small rant with GW rule, if it apply to the story. A weapon with double str of your tougness deal instant death to your character unless you have the eternal warrior rule.
So either the sarge got genetically engineered balls of adamantium (I fervently believe he has) or a deux ex machina will save his ass. Tough choice for a story teller to salvage one of his idolize character from certain death.
And why did he saved a Xeno witch, A dark eldar from everything tainted in this universe, is beyond me.
I think, that Johnson realized pretty fast, that the witch is a renegade of her people, and if you separate from the Dark Eldar, then you are anything, but not like them. She were menacing, though she feared for their lives, when he made a tactically rash move. Plus, she is their only friendly connection to the planet, so she could be an ally, therefore she is to be saved, at least for the mission. And... if you consider someone as an ally... at least momentarily... wouldn't you try to save her? Instinctively for him, he pushed her aside, though he seemingly sacrificed himself. I think, that wasn't his exact intention. Then there is the chance of simple simpathy, or boobies. Johnson is a man nevertheless. More human than any of the space marines. If he dies, I will miss him.
Well, my mention of the female marines is two fold, first, GW once made female SM models, very limited and discontinued run. Secondly, there is the lost missing 2 legions/primarchs, allowing for Daughters of the Emperor, and this friend of mine has made it so that in his Dark Heresy campaign there can be female space marines. He is married btw, so go figure. I tried to discuss uch with him, nhaving been involved with 40k since 1988 on and off. You know that some will run with an idea, and he has mentioned some folks have been pissed at him for intoducing female SM as part of his Dark Heresy universe, some have realized it is his universe and they do not have to play the way he is doing it.
As for Powered armor w/o Black Carapace, they have a special body glove that allows a moderate interface, but it pales in comparison to the SM ability to move with ease in the things. Of course SoB's are trained since their teens to work with power armor, and that helps with the way they fight.
i wonder is the dark elder bother to harvest his soul.....maybe the gang can come back and somehow retrieve his soul before consumption or that female Eldar can transfer to a spiritstone. Even better if that soul is accidentally transfer not to he stone but say a male tau.
Just another thought...
If Johnson was still back in the Imperium, and if he still had some life left, his corpse would be interred into a Freakin' awesome Dreadnought. In which case, the Universe will explode.
